It began as a board-and-batten cottage on Mission Santa Clara grazing land and was enlarged by Juan C. Galindo. John Gueraz bought it in the 1850s, and the Leigh family in 1874; Leigh Avenue is named for the family, who kept it until 1971.
It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980 and is a private home.
