Discover Campbell Park & the Creek Trail

The main segment of the Los Gatos Creek Trail runs 9.7 miles from Lexington Reservoir through Los Gatos and Campbell to Meridian Avenue in San Jose. The trail runs on both sides of the creek from San Tomas Expressway to Campbell Park, and from the park downtown is three blocks west along Campbell Avenue. (Wikipedia)

Campbell’s stretch of the trail was dedicated in 1990. A trail user, David Schrader, planted and tended about 450 oaks, sycamores and bays along it with his own money until his death in 1993. (City of Campbell)

The creek is named for Rancho Rinconada de Los Gatos, the corner of the cats, after the cougars in the hills above. It rises near Loma Prieta and runs on to the Guadalupe River in San Jose. (Wikipedia)

The park hosts the Valentine’s Fun Run each February, and the city’s Oktoberfest Fun Run uses the flat creek trail in October. (Campbell Chamber)
