Ainsley’s first wash boiler cannery packed a thousand cases in 1891 under the Mikado label. In 1892 he moved beside the tracks at Harrison and Campbell Avenues, where Ainsley Park is now. By 1902 the cannery had 500 workers, and from 1904 some fruit went to England in glass jars because sea air rusted the cans.
After the 1917 strikes Ainsley gave his workers an eating house, a nurse, cheap hot lunches and a kindergarten. He leased the cannery to the Drew Canning Company in 1933; Hunt Foods later closed canning in Campbell in 1960.
